Sarcoidosis has deeply impacted my family. My late grandmother lived with the disease, and my mother has been courageously managing it for over 30 years. While it has brought challenges, it has also shown me what strength, love, and resilience truly look like.
Watching my mother handle her illness with grace has shaped me not only as a nurse practitioner, but as a daughter. It also made me more aware of how difficult it can be, especially for children to understand and process a loved one’s illness.
Storytelling became my way to process fear, confusion and turning complex emotions into something meaningful and comforting. I believe it can help other families do the same, especially children, by creating space for understanding and reminding them they are not alone.
By sharing our experiences and raising awareness, we can continue to support families affected by sarcoidosis and build a more compassionate, informed community.
